Ex-LNWR Precursor Class 4-4-0 No 5302 'Shamrock' stands in the extended down bay platform at the head of a Birmingham semi-fast service in May 1936. Built as LNWR No 1309 by Crewe works in August 1907, No 5302 received its LMS number in April 1928 and was renumbered by the LMS as 25302 in September 1936 which it retained until June 1937 when it was withdrawn from service.
