Ex-LNWR 4-4-2T Precursor Tank No 6785 is seen standing on shed having been fully coaled and watered. Built as LNWR No 1981 by Crewe works in June1906, No 6785 received its LMS No in January 1928 and was to remain in service until March 1936 when it was withdrawn from service to be scrapped by Crewe works. The Precursor Tank locomotives were a class of fifty built to the design of George Whale between 1906 and 1909, being a tank engine version of his 4-4-0 Precursor Class tender locomotive.
