Ex-S&DJR 4-4-0 2P No 40322 is seen being tidied up by its fireman having just been under Nuneaton's mechanical coaling plant. Originally built at Derby works in May 1914 for the Somerset & Dorset Junction Railway (S&DJR) as No 70, because the Midland Railway were responsible for the motive power on the S&DJR, No 40322 was renumbered in 1928 by the LMS as No 39 and then No 322 in 1934 and remained in service until March 1953 when it was withdrawn from Stafford shed to be scrapped by Derby Works.
