Ex-LMS 2-6-0 5MT No 42978 is seen standing coaled and watered on Nuneaton's approach roads alongside the Trent Valley line. Built as LMS No 13278 at Crewe works in January 1934 No 42978 remained in service until May 1966 when it was withdrawn from Heaton shed on the Mersey to be scrapped by Bird's of Long Marston.
