Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5XP Jubilee class No 45584 'North West Frontier' is seen passing Ashby junction at the head of an express to Manchester London Road via Stoke-on-Trent. Built as LMS No 5584 by the North British Locomotive Company in December 1934 No 45584 remained in service until October 1964 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle to be scrapped during January 1965 by Hughes Bolckow Ltd of North Blyth.
