Looking towards Rugby station with the down platform on the right having been rebuilt and extended to accommodate a bay for Coventry trains. The rebuilding of the down platform to accommodate a bay platform for Coventry trains must have occurred after the up platform was rebuilt as an island platform as seen in image 'lnwrns318b'. The use of columns on platform one was necessary because the canopy covered twice the platform area than that seen on platform two on the left. A LNWR 2-4-2T tank is standing on the down slow line opposite is what is thought to have been the original No 2 Nuneaton Signal Box. The platform lighting is gas lit on both platforms.
