British Railways built B1 4-6-0 No 61353 pilots ex-LMS 4-6-2 Princess Coronation Class No 46236 'City of Bradford' on 10:40 am Euston to Carlisle on 9th August 1951. Built by Darlington Plant in September 1949, No 61353 remained in service until August 1965 when it was withdrawn from 56A Wakefield shed. The ex-LMS pacific, best known to enthusiasts as a either a Duchess, due to the class being originally named after such noble ladies, or as a semi for members of the class which had been de-streamlined after the Second world War - as was the case with No 46238 - was built at Crewe works in July 1939 and remained in service until April 1964 when it was withdrawn from 12B Upperby shed in Carlisle.
