Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No 45652 'Hawke' stands in the up sidings being coupled up to a southbound freight train in 1963. Built at Crewe works in January 1935, No 45652 received its British Railways number in October 1948 which it carried until January 1965 when it was withdrawn from 8B Dallam shed in Warrington.
