LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

Ex-LNWR 7F 0-8-0 Class G2a No 9070 is seen coupled buffer to buffer with another class member in the up sidings. Originally built by Crewe works in January 1903 as LNWR No 1229, a Class B locomotive, it was rebuilt as a Class G locomotive in May 1909 and then twice more, in December 1937 as a Class G1 and again as a Class G2a in December 1940. It was renumbered as LMS No 9070 in July 1928 and then by British Railways in February 1951 which it carried until November 1962 when it was withdrawn from 21B Bushbury shed.
