Close up of image 'lnwrns308' showing ex-LMS 4MT 2-6-0 No 43024 standing in the pilot road that lay immediately to the front of Leicester Road bridge abutment. This short siding was used by Nuneaton's pilot locomotives or by other locomotives being replaced. Built at Horwich works in January 1948 No 43024 remained in service until June 1967 when it was withdrawn from Crewe South to be scrapped in October 1967 by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
