View of Nuneaton station's island platform which opened circa 1868-9 to service traffic generated by the opening of the Leicester branch. On the right can be seen the short canopy erected by Livock as part of the original station building. The trackwork was typical of the period with ash clinker being spread on top of the sleepers exposed only where the fishplates connected the rails.
