Remodelling work on the Northampton branch required the LNWR to build a new bridge to be built at Hillmorton over the Oxford Canal. The above view, taken from the adjacent main line bridge, shows the temporary timber structure being erected in advance of the main construction. The contractor's son, Mr Scott, was killed in an accident during construction on 22nd September 1880.
