Close up of image 'lnwrrm2440' showing the colour light signal gantry controlling the down through goods and the down through main lines. In the background is the wooden footbridge. Peter Ellis recounts in his book Rugby's Railway Heritage that the bridge was originally erected by the L&NWR in 1850 without prior announcement or consultation. The bridge replaced a footpath to Brownsover Hall from what is now Park Road. The footpath previously crossed the railway on the level and then by a short tunnel beneath the Midland lines,; there being two separate embankments. It was replaced by the bridge seen above which opened on 24th October 1875.
