An unidentified ex-LNWR 4-6-0 Princess of Wales class locomotive is proceeding north along the engine line from the shed adjacent to the southern end of the up platform. Next to the water column is a 'fire devil' or brazier used to keep the water from freezing. The gas lamppost to its right was provided to help the engine crew in poor weather or night time.
