Ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 45392 is held by colour signals on the siding next to platform 2 on 12th October 1963. The 'Black 5' was built as LMS No 5392 by Armstrong Whitworth Limited in August 1937 and was to remain in service until May 1968 when it was withdrawn from Heaton Mersey shed.
