Ex-LMS 4P 2-6-4T No 42104 is seen raising steam in front of No 1 shed with David Bailey and friend in the cab. Designed by Charles Fairburn, the LMS' penultimate CME, the locomotive was built the Southern Region's Brighton works in September 1950 and remained in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 8H Mollington Street shed in Birkenhead to be scrapped in January 1966 by Cashmore's of Great Bridge.
