LNWR 5 foot 6 inch 2-4-2T No 697 stands in front of Rugby's No 1 shed waiting to be disposed of after coaling and watering. Built by Crewe works in April 1894, No 697 was renumbered in June 1927 by the LMS as No 6690 which it carried until April 1947 when it was withdrawn from service.
