Sectional drawing showing the arrangement of equipment at Rugby Locomotive Testing Station. The coal was supplied in hoppers having been weighed in order to calculate consumption. The smoke extractor was maneuverable both along the centre line of the locomotive to accommodate locomotives of different lengths but also at 90° too so that it could accommodate the Crosti boilered 9F which had its smoke exhausted on the side of the boiler.
