Rugby Locomotive Testing Station: lnwrrm2646

British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-1-0 No 92023 fitted with Crosti boiler undergoing tests in July 1955. On the Crosti boilered 9F locomotives a second smokebox existed situated beneath the boiler from which there emerged a chimney on the right-hand side. The flue at Rugby Locomotive Testing Station was designed to accommodate different configurations of locomotives as can be seen in the photograph above.
