Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5XP Jubilee Class No 45571 'South Africa' pauses at Rugby with a down express service during the summer of 1960. Note the water column on the left with the on-off lever locked in position and a brazier to keep the water from freezing. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in September 1934, No 45571 was to remain in service until May 1964 when it was withdrawn from 8C Speke shed.
