Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5XP No 45500 'Patriot' is seen bedecked with Remembrance Day poppies on 10th November 1957. The locomotive is passing over Mill Road bridge having been especially loaned to Rugby shed by 12A Upperby shed for the occasion. Robert Haddon writes, 'The engine was usually parked for display on the centre of the bridge but by this date the bridge had become unsafe so they have stabled her to one side so that the tradition could be retained'. Built by Derby works in November 1930, No 45500 was to remain in service until March 1960 when it was withdrawn from 26A Newton Heath shed.
