British Railways built 2MT 2-6-0 No 46446 is seen standing alongside ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 44859 inside of Rugby shed. The Ivatt Mogul was allocated to 2B Nuneaton shed in November 1958 where it remained until it was transferred to 2A Rugby shed in January 1959 where it remained until May 1963 when it was transferred to 89C Machynlleth shed. The Stanier Black 5 was not a Rugby locomotive being based from December 1954 to October 1965 at either 2E Saltley or 2J Aston shed before being transferred to 2A Tyseley shed. It should be noted that the shed or depot code given reflects the shed number at the time the locomotive was allocated to the shed. As sheds closed so British Railways amended the depot codes. As an example, in 1948 Tyseley was originally given by British Railways the depot code 84E which they later changed in 1963 to 2A (previously the depot code for Rugby) when Rugby shed was re-coded 1F. The Ivatt was built at Crewe works in March 1949, No 46446 was to remain in service until December 1966 when it was withdrawn from 6D Shrewsbury shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Newport. The Stanier Black 5 was built as LMS No 4859 by Crewe works in December 1944 and remained in service until November 1967 when it was withdrawn from 8H Birkenhead shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
