An unidentified ex-LMS 4F 0-6-0 locomotive is running through Rugby on a Class H up through freight working. The lines are from left to right, up through line which also allows access to and from Platform 3 at mid-point of the platform, up through line and bidirectional engine line to gain access to and from the shed. A Class H working covers a 'Through freight or ballast train NOT running under class 'C', 'D', 'E', or 'F' headcode'. The steps on the right led down to Murray Road which passed beneath the station at this point. Murray Road was at the rear of the shed and the railwaymen's hostel so the steps provided a short cut.
