Looking along the down platform as station staff help passengers to load their luggage on to the train on 30th July 1896. Behind the ornate ironwork on the left is a ramp which led down from the platform to the passenger subway which crossed from one side of the station to the other. A similar ramp existed on the up platform which was approximately 30 yards to the left. On the left are steps leading up to a footbridge to assist staff to gain access to the other side of the through tracks.
