Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 'Patriot Class' No 45547, one of the non-named members of the class, is seen passing over Newbold Road heading a down Class C express freight service. The locomotive is on the Birmingham line via Coventry and probably is headed for Curzon Street goods station. The single line on the right would have, just over one hundred and twenty years earlier, led to Rugby's first station but is now leading to the English Electric, formerly Willans Electrical Engineering, Works. Built by Crewe works in April 1934, No 45547 remained in service until October 1962 when it was withdrawn from 8A Edge Hill shed to scrapped by Crewe works.
