Looking towards Nuneaton along the up platform with a LNWR 4-4-0 George the Fifth locomotive waiting to depart for Euston. Immediately above the locomotive is a horizontal screen which ran the full length of the canopy. This screen was designed to dissipate the blast from the locomotive in order to reduce the soot and embers damaging the roof. Note the name of the station 'Rugby' is painted on the gas lamp's glass lantern suspended from the roof.
