Ex-LNWR G2A class 0-8-0 No 49078 is seen standing in Rugby shed's yard on 19th July 1964 despite being withdrawn in December 1962. Built as LNWR No 2654 in January 1910 by Crewe works as a G class locomotive, it was renumbered by the LMS as No 9077 in August 1927 and again by British Railways as No 49078 in June 1949. It was rebuilt by the LMS twice, once as a G1 class locomotive in December 1931 and then again as a G2A class in June 1939, a form which it kept until it was withdrawn to be scrapped.
