British Railways built 2MT 2-6-2T No 41285 has the photographers son in the cab as the fireman gets ready to take on water. The locomotive is at the head of a local train to Nuneaton via Leamington and Coventry. Built to an LMS design at Crewe works in November 1950, No 41285 was with Push-Pull equipment fitted and remained in service until December 1966 when it was withdrawn from Upperby shed in Carlisle to be scrapped in April 1967 by the Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Company of Inshaw Works.
