A 1924 aerial view of the Midland Railway's Engine Shed which comprised two off-set buildings, one of four roads and the rear accommodating two roads. This facility closed in 1903 with the locomotives being allocated to Leicester. On the right is the turntable installed by the LNWR in 1876 when the new LNWR shed opened. A high brick wall separated the shed from the station which, together with the date of its closure, is probably the reason why no ground level photographs exist of either the building or locomotives.
