LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 8629 carrying a 1A shed plate is seen standing at the head of a down goods train on the up avoiding lines behind the station circa 1930s. LMS 4F 0-6-0 No 4077 can be seen on a parallel track also waiting for the all clear to progress south of the station. Built by the Southern Railway's Brighton works in June 1943 No 8629 was to remain in service until August 1966 when it was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped during December 1966 by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
