LMS built 2P 4-4-0 Renown class No 5116 'Goliath' is seen at the head of a down express passing under the wooden footbridge bridge located to the north of the station circa 1928. Rebuilt from LNWR Jubilee class No 1927 at Crewe works in January 1924, No 5116 remained in service until it was withdrawn in December 1931.
