LMS 4-6-2 Princess Royal class No 6201 'Princess Elizabeth' is seen with its original 10 ton Fowler inspired tender at the head of a down express train to the north of the wooden footbridge bridge circa 1934. As No 6201 was built at Crewe works to Lot 107 in November 1933 it can be safely assumed that the locomotive was making one of the first of the many thousands of working trips it undertook during its working life before it was withdrawn in October 1962 from Upperby shed in Carlisle to be preserved, first by the Butlins Holiday Camps company and then by the Princess Elizabeth Society.
