LMS 4-6-2 Stanier Pacific No 6247 'City of Liverpool' in post-war LMS lined black but with LMS crimson tender on an express circa 1947. Seen here in 'Semi' form, a term used by enthusiasts to describe any member of the Coronation class after losing their streamlining, the sloping smokebox and gap in the running plate in front of the cylinders gave evidence of their former streamlining. Built at Crewe works in September 1943 No 6247 was withdrawn in May 1963 from Kingmoor shed, Carlisle for scrapping in July 1963 by Crewe Works.
