An official postcard of a LNWR 4-4-0 locomotive on an up Manchester to Euston express dated November 1904

An official postcard of a LNWR 4-4-0 locomotive on an up Manchester to Euston express dated November 1904. It is thought that the 'Jubilee Class' locomotive is No 1914 'Invincible' which was built at Crewe works in June 1899 and then rebuilt in September 1916 by George Whale as a 'Renown Class locomotive. After the First World War its number, No 1914, was designated to be carried by a Claughton Class locomotive with the name 'Patriot' in memory of LNWR employees who had lost their life during the war. To facilitate this change its number was changed in April 1920 from No 1914 to No 1257 to be followed later by another number change initiated by the LMS as No 5144.
