View of the entrance to the refreshment room from the up platform showing mail bags loaded on trolleys on 13th April 1954. The 'Refreshment Room' sign above the doorway is a standard LNWR design. Whilst there are still many posters evident the large station name board has been removed when compared to image 'lnwrrm1533'. The wire mesh containers filled with straw are most probably containing large glass bottles filled with liquid being sent as parcel traffic. The rooms on the first floor were used for a variety of purposes including providing sleeping accommodation for staff, especially refreshment personnel.
