This close up of image "lnwrrm872" shows the driver of one of Rugby's 0-4-0 Diesel shunters alighting to visit the signal box whilst the exchange sidings disappear into the distance. Ray Sharratt writes 'Three or four of these Class 2900 Diesel Hydraulic 0-4-0 shunters were allocated to Rugby MPD during the early 1960's. They worked as far away as Coventry but their small wheel base was a problem because it was not sufficient to operate the line's track circuit. Consequently, they had to be towed by another locomotive between Rugby & Coventry'.
