LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scot class No 6145 'Condor' is seen with Fowler tender and smoke deflectors in June 1933

LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scot class No 6145 'Condor' is seen with original Fowler tender and smoke deflectors in June 1933. The Royal Scot Class had initially been given names associated with locomotives from the beginning of the railways but this was changed to names associated with British regiments. As part of this change No 6145 was renamed 'The Duke of Wellington's Regiment'. The Royal Scot class were initially named after early locomotives but were later given names considered more apt for the LMS' then premier express locomotive class. Built by the North British Locomotive Company to order 23640 in December 1927 No 6145 was later 'converted' by William Stanier when it was fitted with a new 2A standard tapered boiler and running gear etc in which form it ran until November 1962 when it was withdrawn from Holbeck shed to be scrapped by Crewe works.
