Ex-LNWR 'Cauliflower' class 0-6-0 No 8555 and ex-LNWR Coal Tank 0-6-2T No 27638 stand in temporary store adjacent to the Repair Workshop on 31st March 1935. Built by Crewe works in November 1900, No 8555 was renumbered by the LMS in June 1942 and remained in service until withdrawn in January 1954 from Widnes shed to be scrapped by Crewe works. Ex-LNWR 2-4-2T No 27638 was built as LNWR No 2483 at Crewe works in March 1883 and after being renumbered by the LMS remained in service until it was withdrawn in July 1936 to be scrapped by Crewe works.
