LMS 4P 4-4-0 Compound No 1172 stands next to the coal stacks with the Great Central viaduct in the background on 18th Aug 1928. Built by the Vulcan Foundry in November 1925 No 1172 lasted in service for over thirty years being withdrawn in July 1957 from Rugby shed and was scrapped in August 1957 by Derby works.
