LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

A pair of LMS locomotives being used to assist Mitchell & Butler Brewery in the transportation of their beer. The former Lancashire & Yorkshire locomotive 'Pug' 0-4-0ST No 11221 had been hired by the brewery in 1949 to assist on their private siding which was approximately 1000 yards long. During the fifty-five years of operating the line Mitchell & Butler employed four locomotives of their own between January 1907 when the siding opened and 31st March 1962 when rail traffic ceased.
