LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

View showing the station from the elevated timber walk way and passenger footbridge on 7th May 1929. Up traffic from Harborne to Birmingham New Street used the left hand platform whilst down traffic from New Street used the right hand platform. The lamps on the elevated walkway and footbridge are all of the same pattern which is different to that seen in image 'lnwrrp85'. On the left hand embankment a number of small garden plots can be seen. Its most probable that they are being kept by the station staff rather than the occupiers of the houses on the left. It was quite common for staff to use the quiet periods between services to grow vegetables especially during the pre-war years when pay was low.
