LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

Rotton Park Station: lnwrrp88b

Close up showing part of the main station building and the gas lighting suspended from the canopy

Close up of image 'lnwrrp88' showing part of the main station building and the gas lighting suspended from the canopy. The gas light suspended from the canopy is similar to that seen in image 'lnwrrp84a' and therefore as the canopy was constructed when the line was doubled would indicate both were installed in 1901. Its probably no coincidence that the company came out of receivership the previous year and that Harborne station had also had a second platform added in 1901. The bench seating is to the same design as at Harborne in the 1911 photograph. The booking office is accessed via the first door, the second is a waiting room and the third and final door is the Gentlemen's toilet (as also indicated by the louvered ventilation on the roof seen in the main image).
