The main station building, which accommodated the station master's office and booking hall, was located on a short driveway which was off Railway Road. From the main station building access to the Birmingham trains was via the enclosed footbridge seen above. Passengers for Sutton Coldfield descended to the up platform via a sloping covered way which landed on the platform out of sight and to the left of the photographer. Compared to the down platform the up platform's canopy only covered a short section of the platform reflecting the smaller number of passengers travelling in this direction.
