Locating the goods facilities via a separate branch siding instead of adjacent to the station might appear to be an expensive option. However it did place the LNWR's facilities very much closer to the GWR Soho & Winson station. The photograph helps to demonstrate the difference between the height of the railway embankment and the surrounding area.
