Looking across the buffer stops at the near derelict site of Soho Pool goods station and yard in 1981. Its not the practice for this website to host post 1968 photographs. However on occasion when no other photographs are available and providing the image captured still retains considerable information relevant to the period pre 1968 we make exceptions. The above photograph was taken one year prior to its closure although its use was clearly limited. Opened in 1887, the branch from Soho Road station had originally been constructed to serve a siding to Birmingham Corporation Electricity Works at Piers Road. The depot remained in use for general goods traffic until 1974 and then served as a fuel oil depot until 1982.
