Looking along Soho Road station's up platform towards Perry Barr with the single line to Soho Wharf Pool on the right. The photograph appears to show that the platform buildings were built on a solid piece of ground as is the centre spine of the platform to the left of the camera. The surface of the outside edge of both faces of the platform is constructed from timber planking laid at 90 degrees to the track. This might be because the railway was trying to reduce the weight of the structure as the track to Soho Wharf Pool on the right is at a lower level than the up line and platform.
