LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

View of the station taken from the Birmingham end of the down island platform with a local passenger service standing at the main up platform. The station name is seen on the left 'Stechford for Yardley', the use of 'for' in a station name was a common railway practice in order to foster the impression that this was a convenient location for both locations. Yardley is in fact slightly nearer the GWR station of Acocks Green which also at this point in time carried the 'and South Yardley' in its station name (see image 'gwrag18').
