Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48681 is seen standing on the up passenger loopline shunting a goods train on 5th May 1959. It is thought that the locomotive is shunting a trip working which has come off the Aston line and is being set back into the sidings. Built for the LMS as No 8681 by Brighton works in January 1944, No 48681 was to remain in service until March 1968 when it was withdrawn from 8E Northwich shed.
