Looking down Cromwell Lane towards the station with the original L&BR gate keeper's house on the right. The single-storey building to the left of the two-storey gate keeper's house was the booking office. Entry to the booking office was from the other side of the crossing via and a narrow passageway between the house and the booking office led to the clerks window. Passengers for Coventry would continue past the window and on to the path that led to the platform seen in image 'lnwrth711b'. I remember as a child seeing a sign by the booking office window offering travel insurance for just 3D (three old pennies about 1 new pence), which always struck me as a lack faith or confidence in the railway's level of service.
