LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton
Tile Hill Station: lnwrth2396
View of Tile Hill station's down platform and passenger
waiting room as seen on 22nd September 1951. The pole standing adjacent to the
waiting room was used to provide a wire stay for the very tall signal post
positioned next to the signal cabin as (seen in image 'lnwrth716'). The pole needed to be tall so that trains
could pass beneath the wire. Just visible on the left is the storage depot
erected by the government during the Second World War. The station was lit by
oil lamps up to the 1960s when it was modernised.
